#51, Imperium, a Novel of Ancient Rome, by Robert Harris

The first of a trilogy, this tells the story of Cicero's rise to the rank of consul in the voice of Cicero's secretary slave, Tiro.  The political infighting, greed, and egomania reminds me of present day politics.  Fascinating reading.  I must request #2!
