#10, Girl Waits with Gun, by Amy Stewart

Set in 1914, this is the story of the three Kopp sisters and their year-long adventure after a ne'er-do-well factory owner runs into their buggy with his car.  This is not a suspense or action thriller, but rather the story of three unmarried women on their own on the cusp of World War I.  It is not some dreary feminist tale, but a warm story of three sisters, perfectly happy living by themselves, who are forced by events to break out of their comfortable routine and engage a slightly larger world.  The question is, is the world ready for Constance Kopp?
